Next Stop....Paducah, Kentucky
Piecemaker's Quilt Shop, (my parents shop) will be at the American Quilter's Society Show in Paducah, Ky!
We have been a vendor at this fabulous quilt show now for several years, and we love it! Even if the venue was under water last year in the worst flood in over 60 years (as we were informed).
My newest patterns will be there on display, along with many of the new designs that we feature in the quilt shop.
I hope you can stop by and say hello to Mary and Ed. I'll be home with the quilt shop in Hackensack, getting ready for the Quilt's and Coffee trunk show in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and then it's off to Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City!

Kansas City March - Our Legacy Sampler
I can't believe we are so close to Spring Quilt Market, and the American Quilter's Society Quilt Show is in Paducah, Kentucky is right around the corner!
At Piecemaker's Quilt Shop, things are crazy busy. We are sewing, designing, and packing for Paducah. After we get home, I'll travel to Grand Forks North Dakota for their Quilt's and Coffee program, and trunk show.
Time to sort the quilts, finish the new designs...and...sleep?
Check out my website at www.cottontales.net for more information on the Kansas City March, and find out what is new in my world!
Happy Quilting everyone!

Hickory Sticks and Crystal Snow
Let's face it...winter is Minnesota is just plain Cold! However....it can be very, very pretty.
Hickory Sticks is a new little quilt designed just in time for Houston Quilt Festival. The piece measures 18" x 18". The little log cabin blocks are made from scrap fabrics. Paper piecing onto a foundation kept my little blocks accurate, neat, and just plain adorable! How can you resist these little blocks! They are truly addicting!
The center block has significance that I'll share with you later. I'm very proud to be part of this exciting news that will be announced in the weeks to come!

Crystal Snow is one of my favorite pattern designs. Embellish with flat back swarovsky crystals, beads, or decorative threads.

Falling Leaves

The original pattern was designed for The Heart of the Lakes Quilt Shop Hop several years ago.
The pattern was called Autumn Splendor, and included a runner, and 5 quilt options.
I kept the basic design for this quilt, but changed the size to a smaller six inch block.
It was so much fun making these little leaf blocks. The leaves are all paper pieced. The scraps were used to make the alternating chain blocks.
I started with 24 Fat Quarters, and 1 1/2 yards of black Kona Cotton, and made both of the quilts shown below. I still have an abundance of scraps. I could have made the Leaf quilt much larger, but I wanted to get the quilt finished in time for the fall quilt shows in Des Moines (AQS) and Quilt Festival (Houston)

Crazy for Christmas!
I love Autumn! The winds are howling outside, threatening every last leaf that struggles to stay on the tree. Soon we will have a blanket of white. While Piecemaker's Quilt Shop is basking in the joy of Quilt Festival in Houston...I'm working on new things for the quilt shop. I'm already thinking of Spring...no moss is allowed to grow under our feet.
I want to show you some of the new things we've been cooking up.

Going Beyond Traditions....
It's a new year! I'm so excited to be starting new projects!
Coming very soon is a book, title is still in the works...that will feature a sampler quilt, and several additional projects based upon the blocks used in the quilt.
I'm hoping that quilt shops will take this and use it for a monthly club, and will be able to feature each of the different projects each month!
Once a block has been made, it should be easy then to put that block into a project!
I have also re-printed a similar book, called Beyond Tradition, Quilting the Heart of the Lakes, which features the same sampler quilt, but the projects are different. Each of the ten quilt shops who are part of this shop hop group are also featured. It's a nice little keepsake for the shop hoppers who have been with us over the years, and the new shoppers we have picked up along the way!
